Frequently Asked Questions

What if I already have a domain registered?

All you have to do is set your DNS settings to the following servers:

  • ns1.dreamhost.com
  • ns2.dreamhost.com
  • ns3.dreamhost.com

How do I login to my site?

Go the the web address http://yourdomainname.com/wp-login.php (where yourdomainname.com is the name of the site you registered). The username and password were emailed to you when your site was created. If you can’t find your confirmation email, just click the “Lost your password?” link at the bottom of the page. Enter the email address that you used in your registration and a new password will be sent to you.

What’s the difference between a Post and a Page?

Posts are individual entries within the news/blog page. They can be straight news pieces about new things happening with your business. Write > Post subpanel will allow you to write new news posts. There are several options on this page (categories, tags, custom fields) but most of these can be safely ignored for standard use. These options can be used for improving your online visibility. Contact us for more details. If you don’t know what to write about, we can help you with that as well.

Pages present relatively static information about your sites. The “About” and “Contacts” pages on your site are examples of these. The Write > Page sub panel in the admin area will allow you to create new pages.
